Will @TroyAve Really Bring New York Back?

Tony Ave

Tony Ave

He seems to have the skill. He seems to have the grit. He seems to know what he’s doing. But is it enough? Some say yes, but outside of New York who knows Tony Ave? And the last we heard Kendrick is the King of New York. Well we gone let you know who he is and why he might be the one. With his “New York City” mixtape Tony Ave has to be making his city very happy.

The reasons for the happiness is how Tony Ave’s sound brings back some good memories for New York hip hop. He has exudes confidences in every track with the lyrics to back it all up. From the start to finish he comes consistently with a distinct hunger and lines that demand attention. Production is strongly east coast as he eludes to on the track titled “Cigar Smoke” quote: No more weak ass Rose’/ That’s why the game to sweet/ We don’t wear tight ass clothes/ We don’t do down south beats..

Does this sound like the next face of New York? We can hear the potential but will he follow through? You listen and let us know…

{ Throw Back Track } @OutKast x Elevators

Elevators (Me & You)” is the first single from hip hop group OutKast’s second studio album, ATLiens. It peaked at #12 on the Billboard Hot 100 and the single peaked at #1 on the US Hot Rap Tracks chart. This was definitely a classic OutKast track that showed the game is not all glits & glam and did this like no others could. OutKast consistently made the truth and struggle feel good and this track was one of their best. The combination of Big Boi & 3000 will always be a perfect match, this why it is so exciting to have them back together again! So appreciate and enjoy…

{ Album Review } : @Kid_Ink x My Own Lane

So we can’t like them all, and this case we don’t. This week Kid Ink dropped his debut album “My Own Lane”  Kid Ink gets a lot of air time on the radio and after listening his latest we can’t understand how this will continue… He has so much potential but somewhere, somehow this album went down the wrong lane. Every track is mediocre, features are just ok, and nobody seem to put much effort into this project. To this point we wonder how much thought was put into this album. Its obvious this was something that was made to be commercial, and in some cases that kills quality. Which is exactly what we think happen in this 13 track waste of time. Even if you’re a ride or die fan we would recommend this one, but if you must have it I would download it from iTunes. We not telling you to download without paying buuuuut…. And if you don’t want to just take our word for it listen to it for yourself, we bet you won’t buy it!

How to Run Your City… Not like @iamdiddy but @lilbibby_

Do you want to know how to become the next big rap star of your city? Do you wantLil Bibby to be the next big thing? Maybe you think you are already… No matter what you may think, if you want the top spot we would suggest watching the foot steps of Lil Bibby, because he in moving fast in that direction. Even though the name might be lil but these foot steps are huge and will no longer be ignored.

First thing on your to-do-list is survive the mean streets of Chi-town. Or what is now being referred to as Chi-Raq, a reference to the highly dangerous country of Iraq. If you havent heard, Chicago is pretty back when it come to violence and stuff so if you can survive then you should have a lot to rap about. Just like this 19 year old Lil Bibby does. Now even though he is only 19 you will hear the spirit of a man beyond that age, but we guess that’s what surviving will do to you.

Second thing to do is practice. Yes we are talking about practice! Because these type of skill don’t just develop over night, we are talking lyrical skills that rivals and maybe even surpasses your favorite rappers. Also make sure your skills allow you to rap over any type of beat as Lil Bibby’s mixtape “Free Crack” showcases. Free Crack has an array of Kanye-like soul samples, down south gangster bass lines and jazzy saxophones which Lil Bibby rhymes through with ease.

Last but definitely not least create a mixtape worthy enough to be an album, title it “Free Crack”, and then just give it away. You think you got what it takes? Many think they do, but few succeed. Lil Bibby is beyond hot and if he’s not…you tell us who is! Listen to a couple of tarcks, then download, and comment.

Throw Back Track from @devindude420

This one is from one of the all time great lyricist from the south Devin the Dude. His 1998 hit See What I Can Pull from his debut album “The Dude” is one that any and everyone can relate to. This track, which Devin also produced, definitely takes you back and reminds you of every trip and we mean every trip to the club, no matter where you party. It’s impossible for this track to get old and just listening to this one makes you want more from the Dude.images

Album Review: @Skeme x Ingleworld

With this album Skeme has shown plenty of growth and development with his lyrics. Every album he drops is an improvement on the last and the latest, Ingleworld is no exception. Skeme is going to make waves this year, but would we say it’s Skemes’ year? Can’t make that call just yet… But we will tell you that this album is definitely a MUST BUY for all fans and new comers. Notice the word “BUY” mofo’s! With features including Wale and Iggy Azalea, Ingleworld shows Skeme’s versitility plus the production, trust us it’s worth the iTunes charge. But don’t just take our word check this sample.

The Kat’s Meowwww….

Kat Dahlia

Kat Dahlia

Kat Dahlia is her name and she is from another planet. No, but seriously this Miami native has been cut from a new type of cloth. For someone who started at such a young age this 21 year old has the potential to blaze a trail with her talent that we have never seen before. She is hip hop, she is r&b, she is pop, she is jazz and she can not be put into a box. What she has created from her life experiences should be described as a magical spoken illustration to music. Sounds corny now but once you hear it you will understand. The emotion & passion she puts in these songs are real.

The tracks that we have uncovered paint a picture of a talented, tough, rough around the edges, but delicate artist. Her sound is raw and refreshing. She displays emotions of sadness, happiness, and personal growth. There is so much greatness in her talent it’s not even fair. Its almost like a mix between Jay Z and the late Amy Winehouse with this gritty and grimy accent like Pitt Bull and finesse of, yes, Rihanna you can’t deny it… A very unique combination that sounds phenomenal.

Kat has been recently signed and its looking very promising with a heavy radio rotation of her increasingly popular track Gangsta. This track is CRACK!!! And we think the track is an accurate showcase of her talents. So check her out and let us know what you think. Check the tracks & post back.

Have you tried this Acid Rap???

If you slept on our post back in October then of course you don’t know about this #AcidRap. The mixtape from the one and only, Chance the Rapper, which dropped back in April has to be one of the most perfect body of work for the young rapper. Every track he owns, exhibiting his very distinct style of which has vastly improved. Chance the Rappers’ Acid Rap will be one of the top mixtapes of the year! With features from Twista, Childish Gambino, and Kids These Days and some of the most abstract production, makes Acid Rap a masterpiece. Chance the Rapper shows that his #10days from school turned out to be a blessing from the All Mighty. Floored in amazement with the progression of his ever improving style and flow, we see Chance riding the wave of Acid Rap straight to stardom.
